Dr. David A. Schmidt Appointed as President of the American University in Dubai

Dr. David A. Schmidt ’87 was appointed president of the American University in Dubai (AUD) in July 2019. Founded as the first private university in Dubai, AUD is the most accredited university in the United Arab Emirates and was most notably recognized by QS World University Rankings as the world’s second most diverse faculty and fourth most diverse international student body.
With more than 30 years of broad-based experience as an executive academic leader and faculty member, Dr. Schmidt has worked at the full range of institutions – public, private, and international, as well as the UW System, representing the landscape of higher education.
