Sian Stevens appointed new COO of Caledonia Senior Living and Memory Care – IL’s oldest 501c3

The Scottish Home and Caledonian House, now collectively known as Caledonia Senior Living and Memory Care, welcomes Siân Stevens as Chief Operating Officer.

Caledonia Senior Living and Memory Care, is part of the Illinois Saint Andrew Society. Established in 1845, the Society is the oldest 501c3 charity in Illinois. Also known as the Chicago Scots, the Society is one of the world’s largest Scottish cultural organizations. In addition to providing assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing and respite care on a beautiful campus in North Riverside Illinois, the Society also offers scholarships and organizes events and initiatives to educate, entertain and promote both traditional and contemporary Scottish culture.

Originally from Bishops Stortford, England, Siân relocated with her family to Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin as a child and graduated from Whitefish Bay High School in 1995. Siân graduated from Wisconsin with her BA in English and a certificate in Women’s Studies in December of 1998.

Siân joins the executive leadership team following the completion and stabilized occupancy of its’ innovative and award winning new memory care residence, the Caledonian House.

Before taking up the COO’s role, Siân served as Vice President of Marketing and Development for Chicago Methodist Senior Services. Her extensive background in the field of Aging Services includes working for the Kendal Corporation, a system of 13 communities founded in Pennsylvania. Siân helped improve occupancy at several of Kendal’s East Coast communities as well as successfully reopening the Admiral at the Lake, a high-rise Continuing Care Retirement Community on Chicago’s lakefront. Siân also gained valuable knowledge and experience working for the Glenview-based consulting firm Sawgrass Partners who support non-profits across the country. Prior to Sawgrass, as Director of Marketing, Siân helped roll out the Swedish Retirement Association’s rebranding as Three Crowns Park.

Referring to her new position, Siân said “I’m excited to join a talented team who are dedicated to delivering high quality care. The Scottish Home has an incredible legacy. As we step forward as Caledonia Senior Living, I’m looking forward to helping make the future of this organization every bit as successful as our long history. As part of the Illinois Saint Andrew Society, we are a values-driven organization. Everything we do to serve seniors at Caledonia Senior Living is informed by the timeless principles of home and family. I’m also excited to help the Society accomplish our mission as the Chicago Scots – to nourish Scottish identity and promote Scottish culture.”

Outside of work, Siân can be found chasing her three-year-old twins around the Chicago area – one whom was named after a favorite author and class at UW.
