Peter Tiboris ’70, MS’74 Celebrates 40 Years as Founder and General Director of MidAmerica Productions

Dr. Peter Tiboris ’70, MS’74, a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Schools of Music and Education, will celebrate 40 years as founder and general director of MidAmerica Productions at Carnegie Hall. Dr. Tiboris has had an illustrious career as a conductor and presenter, culminating in establishing MidAmerica Productions and MidAm International in 1984. On January 7, 2024, at Carnegie Hall, on the 40th anniversary to the date of his conducting debut in New York City, he will conduct Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony Op. 125 with a chorus of 300 singers from throughout the United States, the New England Symphonic Ensemble, and world-class soloists.

Dr Tiboris, who was born and raised in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, and received his doctorate in education from the University of Illinois in 1980, has often said that without his 10 years of study at the University of Wisconsin, he would not be where he is today. To this he has openly credited these professors: Robert Fountain, Robert Petzold, Roger Folstrom, and Don Neuen all musical pillars in the academic music world.
