Luke Sosnicki joins Thompson Coburn’s Los Angeles office

Thompson Coburn is pleased to announce that Luke Sosnicki has joined the Firm as a business litigation partner in our Los Angeles office. Luke joins the Firm from Dykema, where he served as a member.

Luke is an experienced financial services litigator who has spent most of his career defending banks, mortgage servicers, and other financial institutions in individual and class action lawsuits across the country. Luke also provides comprehensive advice on litigation and enforcement risks related to federal and state data privacy laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), which takes effect in 2020.

Throughout his career, Luke has successfully defended financial services clients in lawsuits brought under various state and federal consumer protection statutes related to loan origination, servicing, debt collection, foreclosure, and other measures related to unfair or deceptive practices.

He also advises financial services companies on federal and state laws governing data management and the handling of private consumer information. Luke has written and spoken extensively about the CCPA, which, when it takes effect in 2020, will impose significant new burdens on companies in California relating to the consumer information they collect.

Before joining Dykema, Luke previously served as in-house counsel at Nationstar, one of the country’s largest mortgage servicers, and Aurora Bank FSB (formerly Lehman Brothers Bank FSB). In both roles, he managed litigation and advised business unites on litigation risk, foreclosure practices, and state and federal laws governing default management.

Luke earned his J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law, where served as an editor of the Northwestern University Law Review. He obtained a B.S. in Political Science and English from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
