Bob Behnke was one of three agricultural leaders honored by an audience of nearly 100 alumni and friends at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Farm and Industry Short Course (FISC) Alumni Reunion on Saturday, January 25.
The 2020 Friend of FISC Award went to Behnke for his contributions to FISC and WALSAA. Behnke is a dairy farmer from Brooklyn, Wisconsin, at Bur-Wal Holsteins. The Behnkes have received numerous awards, such as being recognized by the Holstein Association USA as a Herd of Excellence and being a world record milk production leader. A graduate of FISC in 1990, Behnke served on the WALSAA Board of Directors from 2014 to 2019. He also served on several WALSAA committees, including serving as chair of the FISC committee.
The event was sponsored by Compeer Financial, with additional support from Crave Brothers Farm, LLC, Pioneer, Wisconsin Corn Growers Association, AgSource, CALS, CentralStar Cooperative, Insight FS, and State Bank of Cross Plains. Thank you to our sponsors, and thank you to our panel moderator, Paul Dietmann, and panel speakers, Charlie Crave, Tom Oberhaus, and Kara Olson!
Looking forward to 2021, the FISC Reunion will be held in January in Madison.
