On February 28, 2026, the United States and Israel launched airstrikes on Iran, killing the country’s leader, Ali Khamenei, and igniting conflict in the region and concern across the globe.
To discuss the war in Iran and the global effects of conflict in the Middle East, political science professor Steven Brooke will join the UW Now Live, on March 17, 2026. He’ll be joined by fellow political science professors Yoshiko Herrera, Andrew Kydd, and Jon Pevehouse.
Brooke is an associate professor of political science at the UW and the faculty director of the Middle East Studies Program. He researches and teaches on the intersection of religion and politics. He is the author of the book Winning Hearts and Votes: Social Services and the Islamist Political Advantage.
