UW Grad appointed to the Minnesota District Court: Laura Pietan

1991 Grad (BA Social Work) Laura Pietan (formerly Hanson) was appointed to the District Trial Court in January, 2019 in Stillwater, Minnesota. After graduating from Madison in 1991, Judge Pietan went to work as a community organizer with the United Farm Workers in California, followed by a decade of social work practice in Seattle and then on to law school. After 15 years practicing law, she received the judicial appointment.

Liza Meredith ’09 was recently promoted to associate teaching professor of psychology, in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota. Additionally, she is the recipient of the UMN Award for Excellence in Academic Service Unit.
