Recent Grad Awarded General Electric “Hero” Award: Dan Osgood

Dan Osgood, who graduated in 2014 with a B.S. in Engineering Mechanics was awarded in January with a General Electric “Hero” Award. One of seven award winners selected from 300,000 employees, Dan was awarded awarded the Direct Impact on Business Priorities award for a single idea: find ways to use GE’s own data to provide insights and increase knowledge of our engine assets. Dan, a GE Aviation employee, created a tool that enables engineers to better perform their job, add transparency between engineering and supply chain, monitor the Aviation fleet in new ways, and provides new business insight to GE customers. Dan, otherwise known as “Digital Dan,” followed and executed on his ideas and to date the tool has helped generate over $70 million dollars in benefits for the business.
