Curt Bonk Named Distinguished Professor at Indiana University

In March 2026, Curtis Bonk MS’87, PhD’89 was named a Distinguished Professor by Indiana University. Bonk, a professor of learning, design, and adult education in the School of Education at IU–Bloomington, is a globally acclaimed educational psychologist and educational technologist. He has focused his research on how human learning intersects with ever-advancing technologies to foster self-directed learning, including massive open online courses and open and online education with generative AI. Of his 20 books, he is perhaps best known for The World Is Open: How Web Technology is Revolutionizing Education, in which he predicted the current educational landscape.
