MADISON, WI (October 10, 2025) — Donors set a new record during the 13th Fill the Hill fundraising event, sponsored by the Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association (WFAA).
The beloved tradition saw plastic flamingos dotting Bascom Hill, with the birds representing donor gifts to support the University of Wisconsin–Madison's most pressing needs. This year's campaign, which concluded at 5 p.m., engaged more than 100 campus areas and secured $737,849 through 4,359 individual gifts.
“We are blown away by the record-breaking support of our UW-Madison community during this year’s Fill the Hill,” said Betsy Popelka Massnick, WFAA Director of Annual Giving. “The sea of flamingos on Bascom Hill brought so many smiles to campus – and the dollars raised are advancing so many valuable causes that are improving lives both here in Madison and around the world. ”
Since its inception, Fill the Hill has raised approximately $4.5 million through more than 25,000 gifts, demonstrating the enduring commitment of the UW–Madison community to supporting educational excellence.
