Recollections of Maj. Peter Mack ’61, USMC

Submitted by Robert Carson, Robertsdale, AL: Just a simple note of memories that may only be of interest to family members. I knew Pete when we were both captains in Danang, 1968. We were the two aides-de-camp to the commanding general of the 1st Marine Air Wing. We shared duties supporting the general for a number of months in an active combat zone. We became great friends and professional officers. We were both pilots and had completed a full combat flying tour prior to our jobs supporting the general. I have many memories of sharing time with him; hard work with very senior officers, hours of quiet conversations, and a number of days of enemy rocket and mortar attacks. He’s a great man and Marine officer. I am honored to have known him.

Peter Mack ’61 earned a degree in English at UW–Madison. He passed away on July 15, 2020.
