Passing of Peter M. Mack, UW ’61

Major Peter M. Mack, USMC (Retired), UW Class of 1961, died on 15 July 2020, in Birmingham, Alabama, at age 81, surrounded by family. Major Mack served a full career in the US Marine Corps, with many overseas assignments including three combat tours in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot.
Peter was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Nancy Ledesma Mack, and is survived by a brother, Paul, of Charlottesville, Virginia; a son, Steven Mack (Maritina), of Birmingham, and grandchildren, Alexi and Nikolas Mack; and a daughter, Cristina (Scott) Synan, and grandchildren, Emily and Noah Synan, of Ashburn, Virginia.
Peter was surrounded by family at his passing and was interred with full military honors at a national military cemetery near Birmingham, next to his late wife.
He will be greatly missed.
