In memory of Dr. Richard B. Barrick

Dr. Richard B. Barrick “Rick” ’54, MD’57 passed away on June 13, 2026, in Redwood City, California. Rick was born on January 20, 1933, in Chicago, Illinois, to Frank and Margaret Ruch Barrick. In high school, his family moved to Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, where he graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1950.

Rick earned both his undergraduate degree (1954) and his medical degree (1957) from University of Wisconsin at Madison. He completed his medical residency at Los Angeles County General Hospital.

Following his residency, Rick made California his home, settling down and practicing medicine as a dedicated general practitioner on Eaton Avenue in San Carlos, California, for more than 50 years. Throughout his distinguished career, he served on the medical staff at Sequoia Hospital in Redwood City, California, for 54 years as well as on staff at Mills Peninsula Hospital in Burlingame, California. His patients knew him as a compassionate physician who always went above and beyond to provide thoughtful and personalized care.

Although he spent most of his life in California, Rick never lost his Wisconsin roots. Rick was a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan even though he had season tickets to the 49ers games in the Joe Montana years. He loved his vacations in Sturgeon Bay; visiting the parks, fishing, attending fish boils and eating cherry pie. He loved spending time with his parents and old friends, including attending his class reunions. When he was younger, he enjoyed tennis and played golf frequently with his neighbor.

Rick married Jeanne Constance (Connie) Tremblay in 1960 and was married for 66 years. He is survived by his wife, Connie; his children, Kathleen Antion (Stephen) of Los Angeles, Richard S. Barrick (Yuni) of San Mateo and Jennifer Clerico (Larry) of St. Louis; and six wonderful grandchildren: Lauren Antion Hansen (Erik),Katherine Antion, Ryan Barrick, and Anthony, Olivia and Isabella Clerico. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Margaret, his sister, Antoinette Warren, and his brother, Gerald Barrick.

As a man of few words, Rick will be remembered for his kind demeanor, generosity, dry humor, and daily manhattan cocktail. Whether caring for his patients or supporting his family and friends, he approached life with humility, compassion, and a genuine desire to serve others. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched throughout his long career, and the love he shared with his family and friends.

A funeral mass was held on July 17, 2026, at St. Charles Catholic Church in San Carlos, California, followed by a reception in the church hall to celebrate Rick’s life. He will be buried in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin.
