Dr. Mariselle Meléndez Is Named Dean’s Fellow for Faculty Development

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign has named Professor Mariselle Meléndez MA’87, PhD’93 from the Department of Spanish & Portuguese, as the first College of Liberal Arts Dean’s Fellow for Faculty Development. The position has been created to develop programs that enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion within the college, as well as ensure that all faculty members receive effective assessment and mentoring to benefit their career advancement and engagement with the university. In addition, Dr. Meléndez has been appointed as LAS Alumni Distinguished Professorial Scholar. This title is in recognition of outstanding achievements in research as well as in teaching and academic leadership.
