A UW–Madison degree is designed to prepare students for success long after graduation. Through a campuswide network of career services offices, students receive personalized support throughout their academic journeys, from exploring career paths and gaining hands-on experience through internships and research to connecting with employers and preparing for the job search. Each school or college at the UW has a dedicated career services office tailored to its students and academic disciplines, while additional resources support specific career interests such as prelaw, pre-health, or areas that require special language skills. Career advisers, career and internship fairs, employer partnerships and experiential learning opportunities help students built the skills, experience, and professional networks needed to achieve their goals. Many of these resources remain available to alumni, providing career support at every stage of their professional journey.
These efforts translate into strong outcomes. According to UW–Madison’s First Destination Survey, 93 percent of graduates are employed, pursing military or public service, or continuing their education within six months of graduation. Among graduates seeking employment, 91 percent say the UW prepared them from the next step in their career path. The Frist Destination Survey’s interactive data dashboard allows prospective students, families, and employers to sort outcomes by major, school or college, or geographic location.
Together, results reflect the university’s commitment to helping students translate their education into meaningful opportunities and lasting success.
