UW Homecoming: A Wisconsin Wonderland

The first snowfall of the season may have started flying on the day of the Homecoming game. But a flurry of activity preceded the Badgers Big Ten showdown — a 49–20 icing of Illinois.

A concert with Grammy winner Bruce Hornsby got the annual tradition of alumni returning to their beloved alma mater off to a rollicking start on Thursday, October 18. It was the UW Block Party, though, the night after that really set a spirited tone for the weekend. The party included a classic Wisconsin fish fry that featured the power-polka band the Squeezettes — classic, right! And the popularity of the silent disco came through loud and clear, with 100+ people consistently on the dance floor and a long line of Badgers waiting to boogie.

Plus, when you add the special moment that Badger basketball icon Ben Brust had interviewing legendary band director Mike Leckrone, this was one of the coolest — style-wise, not temperature-wise (thankfully) — Homecomings yet.
