LaVerne Harrison remembers serving as a teacher in Africa

LaVerne Harrison BS’64.
I found the article on Bug Bites in the Winter 2018 issue of On Wisconsin interesting. While I was serving as a teacher at the Secondary School in Mukinge, Zambia, Africa I had an interesting experience one early morning. It is a boarding school so I was surprised by the joyful shouting early one morning. The students were all out chasing the flying insects that were in the air that day. They would catch a handful and take it to toast to a crisp and eat. It seemed not to be toxic and was an exciting event for the students. It is good to hear that it is also healthy.
