Twice As Nice in 2024

Valerie Dantoin ’81, MS’87 and her husband, Rick Adamski, received two prestigious awards for their outstanding farming practices in 2024. They were selected as the MarbleSeed Organic Farmers of the year in January and this November were announced as the winners of the Sand County Foundation’s Leopold Conservation Award. The couple has been farming for more than 30 years on 240 acres in Shawano County, and their 125-year-old family farm features organic grass-fed beef, pastured hogs, and 10 acres of organic vegetables. Those crops, in addition to pollinator habitat, wildlife corridors, tree plantings, and waterfowl ponds showcases how modern farms can feed the world without ruining the ecosystem.
