Reaching 100 and Still a Working Journalist

I [Eileen Martinson Lavine ’45] turned 100 on December 28, 2024, and the party celebration was covered by two New York TV stations, hailing that I am still a senior editor at Moment Magazine. I was the first woman to serve a full term as editor of the Daily Cardinal (1944–45), and when I graduated in 1945, I won the Wisconsin Alumni Association award as the senior who did the most to promote the best interests of the university. I got an MS at Columbia Graduate School of Journalism, and I have been a reporter, freelance writer in Paris, newsletter editor, and head of a women-owned editorial business in Bethesda, MD, for 30 years. I moved to New York in 2022 to be near my children.
