Bringing Manufacturing Back from China: Mark Gams

Mark Gams ’77 is Senior Vice President US Operations and Supply Chain for ACCO Brands Corporation and responsible for 7 U.S. sites. He is headquartered in Lake Zurich, IL. ACCO Brands is the world’s largest supplier of branded school and office products. In 2009 Mark in-sourced the manufacturing of ACCO’s white board product line from China to Booneville, MS; the move immediately created 250 new jobs. In addition to Booneville he directs manufacturing in:
– WI (paper clips, staple cartridges, wide format laminators, commercial punch & bind equipment, binding supplies, integrated die sets)
– NY (calendars, paper planners, organizers, binders, dry erase boards, classification folders, data binders)
– PA (notebooks)

ACCO Brands aims to leverage its U.S. manufacturing assets to re-shore manufacturing jobs where gains in efficiency allow the US to compete on a variable cost basis. Mark’s good judgment and decisions direct 2000 employees in manufacturing, supply chain, transportation, and logistics. Mark majored in philosophy.
