Dean Verhoeven founds Coffee Mug Manufacturing Startup
- Sep. 21, 2018
Dean Verhoeven, (BSME 1984, MSME 1986) has founded a manufacturing business to commercialize a patented thermodynamic travel mug that keeps coffee at a constant comfortable drinking temperature. After a career in an auto engine research lab and then as an independent consultant, he is bringing to market a product that solves a problem that was near to his heart (and lips): his coffee was first scalding, and then too cold to enjoy. His “Temperfect” mug is based on simple thermodynamics from his engineering studies at UW-Madison. It is manufactured, in part, in the US, and the creation of the tools and machinery for production is another area where Dean’s UW-Madison engineering education served him well.
