OC Badgers on Campus: Danielle Bussell

My name is Danielle Bussell and I am currently a sophomore at UW-Madison.  My experience at Wisconsin has been nothing short of amazing.

My first year forced me to step out of my comfort zone and learn many lessons, which has helped me a lot during my second year. To start off, I really enjoyed the classes I took this semester. Despite being my hardest class, anatomy was the class that I enjoyed the most. This class forced me to build closer relationships with my professors and TAs, as I needed more help in order to succeed. I have learned that it can only benefit you to go to your professors with questions and that they are there to help you. I also found the content of the class to be very interesting. The more classes I take, the more I realize that I am on the right career path.

After earning my CNA certification this past summer, I gained experience that helped me confirm my love for nursing. I am applying to the nursing school during this winter break, and I look forward to the next classes that I will be taking in the spring.

As far as involvement goes, I am a part of multiple clubs on campus. I am on the board as a co-volunteering coordinator in the Aspiring Nurses Association, as well as a general member of Best Buddies. I really enjoy being a part of the Aspiring Nurses Association, as we have many guest speakers that are current nurses. This provides us with shadowing opportunities and the ability to ask questions to someone with experience in the field. I also have made many friends in this club and enjoy going to the social events.

Additionally, my friend and I decided to start a new club on campus last spring called Cycle Forward. Our club focuses on increasing education on period poverty and raising money/donations for local women’s shelters.

Overall, I am very happy to be involved in these clubs and plan on continuing this throughout the rest of my time at Wisconsin.

Like many other students, I love to spend my Saturdays watching Badger football and jumping around in Camp Randall! One of the many reasons that I chose Wisconsin was because of how many amazing sports teams we have. I love going to hockey games, basketball games, and volleyball games, too. Madison also provides so many fun things to do, such as going to the terrace for sunset, eating at one of the many restaurants on State Street, and going for a run down the Lakeshore Path. I love being able to spend my free time enjoying the amazing things that the campus has to offer.

In conclusion, attending UW-Madison has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. I have made so many new friends, gained unique experiences, learned things about myself, and opened my eyes to different cultures. I am very excited for the rest of my time in Madison and cannot wait to learn more.

On, Wisconsin!
