PEOPLE Alumna Making Strides in Healthcare

Rebeca Covarrubias ‘14 is originally from Madison, WI. She is a PEOPLE Alumna, part of the 2009 cohort. She graduated from UW-Madison with a bachelor's degree in Community & Non-Profit Leadership and a certificate in Chican@ & Latin@ Studies. Rebeca is a first generation college graduate on her dad’s side so graduating from UW-Madison has been one of her most memorable experiences. Rebeca, passionate about the healthcare field, decided to attend the University of Illinois- Chicago to obtain her Master’s of Healthcare Administration in 2017. She currently works as a manager of patient access for the Erie Family Health Centers in Chicago, IL. Recently she won the Woman of the Year 2021 Award for the First Immanuel Lutheran Church of Chicago for all her hard work and dedication.

Her words of advice for current scholars? “Use your resources! Wisconsin has a huge student and alumni network- the PEOPLE program alum network was definitely an asset that I underutilized so don’t hesitate to reach out to someone that may be in your field of study or something completely different. I’m sure they would be able to connect you with a fellow Badger!” If you’re interested in connecting with Rebeca reach out to her via LinkedIn.
