The Badger Tech Foundry: Transforming Innovative Technologies into Groundbreaking Start-up Companies
Innovative technologies are born every day in the UW’s College of Engineering. But these technologies cannot achieve their intended impact without leaving campus and getting out into the world. The Badger Tech Foundry is working to produce serial founders of deep tech start-up companies and to create groundbreaking companies. Find out how the foundry is helping to deliver on the promise of the Wisconsin Idea and to achieve what Badger engineers have always been driven to do: make the world a better place.
About the Speaker
William Murphy is the Harvey D. Spangler Professor in the College of Engineering and an H. I. Romnes Faculty Fellow. He is dual-appointed in the Departments of Biomedical Engineering and Orthopedics and Rehabilitation and is the director of the new Badger Tech Foundry. As part of the Bioinspired Materials Laboratory, his research focuses on developing “smart” biomaterials that mimic the complex signaling environments of natural tissue development. His work with the Badger Tech Foundry focuses on bringing innovative technologies and devices like these out of the research lab and into the world where they can help real people thrive.
