Join the Washington DC Badgers as we honor local distinguished alumnus, Sanford K. Ain.

Mr. Ain is a principal and co-founder of Ain & Bank, a leading law practice devoted to family law and its complexities. He has practiced family law for over 35 years and is listed in Woodward White’s The Best Lawyers in America, in both the family law and real estate law sections.

Ranking Mr. Ain #1 among the Washington, DC area’s top divorce lawyers, Washingtonian Magazine said, “Sandy Ain is one of the best divorce lawyers in America and maybe one of the best lawyers, period.” The article goes on to say, “For most legal specialties you can have a spirited argument about which of the four or five lawyers might be the best. But among divorce lawyers, Sandy Ain is alone at the top.”

Mr. Ain graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1969 and received his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center in 1972. Since then, Mr. Ain has tailored his life and work achievements to represent the Wisconsin Idea, UW-Madison’s guiding principle that the boundaries of the university’s classrooms should extend throughout the state and world to influence and improve people’s lives. To honor Mr. Ain's achievements, the Wisconsin Alumni Association DC Chapter has established a scholarship in Mr. Ain's name.

The University of Wisconsin Alumni Club of Washington DC has two primary goals. The first is to promote the University of Wisconsin through alumni participation in club sponsored events related to the University. The Club's second goal is to raise scholarship money to encourage students from the DC area to attend the University of Wisconsin. In recent years, Club dues and proceeds from Club sponsored events have provided thousands of dollars annually for these scholarships.
