You’ll have the chance to create wonderful UW-Madison memories with someone you love — your grandchild! This award-winning, two-day program brings grandparents and grandchildren together through hands-on activities in “majors” led by top UW faculty and staff. GPU is an experience you’ll never forget, and your grandchild will always cherish.

Started on the UW-Madison campus in July 2001, the Wisconsin Alumni Association and UW-Extension Family Living Programs offer Grandparents University® each summer. This award-winning, two-day workshop is a chance for children (ages 7 to 14) and their grandparents to come together and learn from each other in a dynamic atmosphere on the UW campus. What better way for grandparents and grandchildren to spend time together than sharing stories, reliving and creating memories, and earning a degree together from UW-Madison?
The Wisconsin Alumni Association® and UW-Extension Family Living Programs work together to make this program possible. Grandparents University® is a registered trademark, with the program having originated on the campus of UW-Madison in July, 2001. We are proud that as many as ten other institutions across the country and in Canada now offer their own version of Grandparents University®.
