Over the past six months, passionate Badgers like you have advocated for key state budget priorities that impact UW–Madison. That advocacy is at a crucial point now. The budget is on Governor Evers’s desk, awaiting his action.
We need as many people as possible to reach out to the governor today and urge him to support the UW System in the state budget. While the budget is not perfect, and it never is, the document contains crucial investments in UW–Madison, including:
- an increase of $45 million in general fund dollars for the UW System.
- funding and bonding authority for five crucial capital building projects at UW–Madison, including expansion and renovation of the School of Veterinary Medicine building.
- support for dairy research through the creation of a Dairy Innovation Hub. A total of $8.8 million will support agricultural research at UW–Madison, UW–Platteville, and UW–River Falls to help strengthen Wisconsin’s dairy industry.
- A compensation plan for UW faculty and staff who are so important to making UW-Madison a world class educational and research institution.
Your support, and the support of UW–Madison alumni and friends around the state, has made a difference in generating a budget that will keep our great university moving forward. Take a moment today to thank Governor Evers for his support of higher education in Wisconsin and urge him to approve the 2019–21 state budget.
