Last week’s vote in the Joint Committee on Finance was only one piece of the budget puzzle. The committee could vote on capital budget as early as the week of June 10, 2019. The capital budget funds bonding for building maintenance and expansion on the UW–Madison campus.
Among the important capital projects being considered next week are the much-needed expansion and renovation of UW–Madison’s School of Veterinary Medicine — the only vet med school in Wisconsin. The budget also requests funding to support upgrades to Sellery Residence Hall, the Natatorium, the Kohl Center, and Camp Randall Stadium. The School of Veterinary Medicine project includes a substantial amount of funding through private donations, and the other projects are funded by user fees — requiring no state tax dollars.
We need your help to remind members of the Wisconsin legislature of the value that these projects bring to UW–Madison and the entire state.
