This year’s Alumni College retreat is a celebration of 175 years of UW–Madison excellence. Gather with fellow alumni and friends to hear presentations from the university’s experts. Then explore the outdoor activities available at Red Crown Lodge. Browse the sections below to learn more about this informative, all-inclusive weekend getaway in the beautiful Wisconsin Northwoods.

10:15 a.m. Lakes, Legends, and Logging: Resisting Paul Bunyan Stories, Tourism, and Erasure Across the Northwoods” with Kasey Keeler, assistant professor of civil society and community studies
12 p.m. Lunch
1:30 p.m.  “Chasing the Stars: How Wisconsin Astronomers Explored the Galaxies” with Jim Lattis MS’87, PhD’89, director of UW Space Place

Afternoon free — recreational activities available like walking trails and mountain biking, pontoon boat rides, pickleball, etc.

8 p.m. Stargazing with Jim Lattis, s’mores, and campfires

Cost per Person

  • $1,900 (single-occupancy room, includes lodging for three nights)

  • $1,800 (double-occupancy room, includes lodging for three nights)

  • $1,000 for commuters (does not include lodging)

Red Crown Lodge is a corporate retreat in Arbor Vitae, Wisconsin, that was established in 1922 by Standard Oil. Located on Trout Lake in the beautiful Northwoods of Wisconsin, the lodge has served as a meeting facility for more than 80 years. It offers spacious guest rooms and opportunities for body-and-mind enrichment.
