    Watch a new tradition begin at the September 17th WALSAA Football Fire-Up as the first WALSAA Daluge Red Jacket Award will be presented to Jack Kaltenberg.

  • A fitting memorial: Floyd Radel

    From rural Wisconsin, Floyd Radel, came to the UW in 1940. Lonely, he begged to return home. His father said he must stay. Floyd graduated in 1944 with a degree in accounting from the business school. Ever since then, he and his wife, Ruth, “bled” Bucky red.

  • Summer Job 1946: Wisconsin Geological Survey: Elliott Sweet

    My father, Elliott Sweet, graduated from UW in 1948. As I read through the pages of On, Wisconsin! (my husband is also a graduate) I realize my father, who has written delightful memoirs, might have something of interest to the readers of your magazine. I have extracted a portion concerning his summer work with the Wisconsin Geological Survey in 1946:

    Brian Kulas passed away this year. He was a starter with the UW basketball team and then upon graduation worked his entire life in education and helping many community causes in Medford, Wisconsin.

    As we watched the procession of first responders pass at the memorial for Officer Garrett Swasey, my two boys and I were thrilled to see a University of Wisconsin Police vehicle. Way to drive 1200 miles to honor a fellow officer! I’m proud to be a Badger!

  • 1982 Boston Marathon: Bob Blazer, Harold Hubbard

    Bob Blazer (Class of 1952) and I (Class of ’51) first met in the late ’40s, attending U.W.M. We finished our education in Madison. We had not seen each other for over 30 years, when we finally met, running next to each other, in of all places, the 1982 Boston Marathon.
