Though changes had to be made to our usual Student Send-Off, we were still able to provide a creative send-off for the 26 newest Badgers from our area. Due to precautions associated with COVID-19, we were not able to host our usual picnic. Instead, we made a visit to every freshman by visiting them at their home. Our members divided into teams based on geography. If you didn’t get to join in on a visit, here is what you missed: Badger alums dressed in UW spirit wear, decorated cars, and horns honking when arriving at a home. And then, in true UW spirit, Mark Rein, our president, had “Jump Around” playing loudly from his car. The new freshmen were given one of our chapter’s shirts, swag bags, Babcock ice cream gift certificates and a yard sign wishing them well. From the Quad Cities to Peoria to Bloomington to Champaign to Charleston to Springfield, every new Badger freshman received a personalized send-off! Many thanks to everyone who participated.
