Chapter Volunteer Opportunities

The Wisconsin Alumni Association-France Chapter is 100% volunteer-run and aims to Unite alumni, students, faculty and friends of the University of Wisconsin, Promote the University in France and Europe; and Support scholarship opportunities in their largest sense between Wisconsin and France. The Chapter has the following four volunteer opportunities available:

Oui Needs you!

Vice Board Chairperson -- Communications & Membership

The Vice Chairperson leads the chapter’s initiatives to promote the University of Wisconsin in France and manages contact lists for all chapter members, including email and snail mail information. In addition s/he helps the chapter track participation at events and encourages new involvement of alumni, namely amongst the young graduate community. S/he disseminates information about chapter activities through creative email invites and web communications. Contact the chapter, if you have any questions, ideas or would like to get involved with the chapter’s communications or about the chapter’s growing community (the WAA-France groups on LinkedIn, on Facebook or the Ouisconsin channel on youtube, etc.). Time commitment is about two hours a month, serving as official host of two to three events and attending four annual board meetings.

Chair – Career Resources

This volunteer coordinates career development activities and resources for alumni and students visiting France. Currently this entails coordinating and hosting an annual event, called Success and the City, in the winter/spring to promote international career perspectives and networking for our community. Where possible, the volunteer also helps match students to volunteer alumni mentors for even further career advice. Contact the chapter, if you are interested in the Career Resources Chair position, being a volunteer mentor or have any career questions or ideas. Time commitment would be about two hours a month in the fall, hosting one evening event in late January or early February and attending four annual board meetings.

Chair – Sports & Welcome to the City Activities

This volunteer would coordinate all sports and welcome-related activities for the chapter, which could includeWelcome to the City events for new Badger arrivals, game watches at our local Badger Bar, Wide Open Spaces,  and/or getting the annual Crazy Legs Race at the Eiffel Tower back off the ground. The volunteer could also channel information about where to find UW sports events at local establishments and, for key games, we would look to you to serve as contact or host where possible. Contact the chapter, if you are interested. Time commitment would be about one hour a month, organizing about four to six events, watching lots of sports and attending four annual board meetings.

Member – Ouisconsin Scholarship Committee

The Ouisconsin Scholarship Committee supports scholarship in its greatest sense between the University of Wisconsin and France. Most recently, this has included participating in the selection process and fund development for the Ouisconsin Scholarship.
