2020 Bay Area Badgers Scholarship Winners

Eric Elgaard

For 17 years, I have grown up in the bustling and beautiful San Francisco Bay Area. Being around the ocean, Silicon Valley, and many activities has been incredible, but it's all I know. I am ready to explore a different part of the country and new ways of thinking. While there are many universities away from home, the fact that Madison is on an isthmus surrounded by two beautiful lakes really appeals to me. Also, snow is something I never experience, so I will look forward to the changing seasons.

While my address may say California, I grew up in the Midwest on the northshore of Chicago. In fact, I spent eighty percent of my lifetime there, so you could say that the Big Ten is in my blood. The Big Ten doesn't just represent sports, but the hardworking gritty nature of every student at a Big Ten campus. Interestingly enough, I am not an Illinois fan, and I will never be an Ohio State fan... As a Midwestern kid, there has always been an draw to the north as each summer was spent in the state of Wisconsin. Even though I have only visited the University once. I felt immediately connected to the campus. So whether it's love or fate, I must have a bit of Badger in me.2019 Bay Area Badgers Scholarship Winners
