David McDonald, a professor in the Department of History and the Alice D. Mortenson/Petrovich Distinguished Chair in Russian History, is an expert on the history of imperial Russia and the politics of contemporary Russia. His talk will examine Putin’s power in the world’s largest country and how Putin’s regime utilizes history to bolster its power.

Complimentary parking is available in a heated parking pavilion in the 800 block of North Prospect Avenue. (There is easy access to the University Club’s entrance under the porte cochère.) If that parking structure is full, you may park outside in a service lot on North Marshall Street, adjacent to the heated garage.
