Job Description

The Chapter scholarship team supports the Wisconsin Alumni Association (WAA) mission by building an inclusive local community of UW alumni and supporters united by Badger pride, spirit, and the desire to advance UW-Madison's positive impact on the world. The scholarship team is responsible for overseeing the chapter scholarship program and works to promote the scholarship, available in the Wisconsin Scholarship Hub (WiSH), at events and via other channels (email, web, social media, etc.).  This team is responsible for overseeing all of the administrative and communication processes for the chapter scholarship program.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Understand the WAA mission and purpose of alumni communities
  • Establish chapter scholarship program priorities and focus
  • Be familiar with WAA scholarship process
  • Review all provided training materials
  • Identify a committee chair who is responsible for coordinating the committee and is the liaison for WAA, providing committee roster and other communications as needed
  • Submit all necessary information and data agreements to WFAA by the specified deadlines
  • Complete the required Data Agreement annually and maintain appropriate usage of provided student data
  • Promote scholarship program in the community, at chapter events, and via email, web, and social media
  • Oversee the administrative process: complete data agreements, access chapter Box folder, review data, interview candidates, select recipients based on chapter priorities
  • Oversee the communication process: send notifications to awardees, send WiSH reminders to awardees as appropriate, facilitate awardee questions, if applicable invite to candidates to interview
  • Determine allocation amounts and ensure appropriate funds are available to cover current awards
  • Work in coordination with chapter leadership and fundraising committee to ensure proper stewardship of donated funds

  • Ability to delegate tasks in an organized fashion
  • Commitment to award ethically
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Interviewing skills, a plus
  • Ability to identify future Badgers bound for success, a plus
