Wisconsin Business Owner Laura Gallagher Attends Women’s Entrepreneurship Day at the United Nations

More than 25 years of success as a woman business owner and entrepreneur precedes what may be one of Laura Gallagher’s greatest achievements to date when she graduates from the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City’s (ICIC) Inner City Capital Connections (ICCC) program at Columbia University in New York on Wednesday, November 16, 2016. Gallagher is Owner and President of The Creative Company based in Madison and a 2016 State of Wisconsin Trailblazer award recipient.

“While I’m in New York City, I’ll be with business owners from around the U.S. who are interested in getting access to capital and creating jobs,” The Creative Company Owner and President Laura Gallagher says. “Together, we will learn and grow. We’ll also encourage each other to do more than we ever thought possible because the market needs and deserves people and services that are set apart from the rest.”

Gallagher was recommended to the ICCC program in Milwaukee, based on her success as a business owner, along with its growth potential in the community. She has spent more than 40 hours during the last several months completing what’s often referred to as the “MBA on steroids” program, while learning specifics about the value her business can bring to help revitalize the state of Wisconsin. The 2016 ICCC program was hosted in Boston, Chicago, Dallas/Houston, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, Philadelphia, St. Louis and Worcester. 45% of this year’s class is comprised of women-owned businesses, another 57% are minority business owners.

She will also be taking part in Women’s Entrepreneurship Day (WED) at the United Nations on Friday, November 18, 2016. “Women worldwide have historically been underpaid, undervalued, underrepresented, underfunded, underestimated…. and still are,” WED Founder and entrepreneur Wendy Diamond says. “Women-owned businesses are set to increase by 90% in the next five years. We need to change the status quo because lifting women up creates economic opportunity and vitality, globally.”

Gallagher’s own business has grown to become one of the most respected P.R. and digital agencies in Madison, Wisconsin, while serving successful entrepreneurial companies, retailers, healthcare organizations and nonprofits throughout the United States. She recently wrote a book, #180in120 Recharge Your Business in 120 Days, focused on setting goals, being honest about the limiting beliefs that hold you back, and creating a focused plan to change things for the better.
