Alum’s nonprofit awarded fourth consecutive National Endowment for the Arts grant: Stacy Swadish Kosmatka

Stacy Swadish Kosmatka, BA Journalism 1987, serves as the Executive Director of Historic Milwaukee, Inc. The nonprofit –with a focus on sharing Milwaukee’s history, architecture and the built environment — has received its fourth consecutive grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. The $25,000 grant will help fund the 10th annual Doors Open, a city-wide exploration of buildings, sites and neighborhoods. The event is modeled on the Open House movement, which was founded in London in 1992 and strives to make buildings accessible and free to all. Swadish has served as Executive Director since 2013. Swadish has worked in the nonprofit sector for the past 25 years following stints at newspapers in Iowa and Wisconsin. Swadish served as editor in chief of the Daily Cardinal newspaper in 1985.
