Promotion to Chief of Science and Technology Infusion Division – Western Region National Weather Service: Michael Staudenmaier
I have been appointed as the new Division Chief of the Science and Technology Infusion Division at the National Weather Service – Western Regional Headquarters. I have previously been the deputy chief of the division since 2012. I have been with the National Weather Service since graduation in 1993, first starting as an intern and then serving in various positions in California, Arizona, Nevada, and Utah offices. I am also the lead scientist in a project involved in exploring a new national approach to identifying excessive heat episodes and providing a heat risk service aimed at “at risk” communities. I am following on the heels of another Badger graduate who held the same Division Chief position for 25 years.
