From Geologist to CEO: Gary Konwinski

Geologist, Gary Konwinski, BS1974 began his career in the State of Michigan, while working on a MS degree and conducting geotechnical field work. His love of the depositional environments and associated minerals led him to Colorado, where he became involved in uranium recovery/production and the fuel cycle. A decline in uranium prices, resulted in a move to the nuclear weapons program, where Gary became the Decommissioning Program Manager at the Rocky Flats Superfund Site. Retiring at an early age Gary and sons transformed their hobby business, Quality Lapel Pins, Inc., into the largest promotional products company in the Rocky Mountain Region, having annual revenues in excess of 5 million dollars and a 20 year growth averaging 10% annually. Gary at age 67 continues as the CEO of Quality Lapel Pins, Inc.
