Doug Anderson featured in Green Bay Press Gazette
Sixty-nine years ago, my parents met as students at UW; she, Jean Anderson, a Related Arts major and a resident of Chadbourne Hall, and he, an Econ major and Badger football player with a meal job at Chadbourne Hall. They married in 1951. Badgers forever:)
We will celebrate his 90th birthday on December 5, 2017.
Last year around the time of the Badger/LSU game at Lambeau Field, the Green Bay Press Gazette Newspaper wrote a tremendous article about dad and his football connection to both UW and LSU, as both schools were pursuing him when he returned from service. He chose UW, of course:)
His story is wonderful. He was the waterboy for his Superior Central High School football team, a team on which Bud Grant was a star. He always loved sports, was an extremely hard worker, and dreamed of playing football. Service gave him the opportunity and his tireless work ethic paid off.
90 years. Douglas H. Anderson, a little country boy from Lake Nebagamon, WI grew from learning in his one-room school house and playing anee-I-over at recess, to realizing his dream of playing football at Camp Randall Stadium for his beloved Badgers.
Badgers forever, indeed.
