Ladendorfs pen “Wildlife Apocalypse” cover story

Bob Ladendorf (MA ’77) and his son Brett Ladendorf (BA ’98) co-wrote the cover story in the July/August 2018 issue of Skeptical Inquirer magazine on the “Wildlife Apocalypse: How Myths and Superstitions Drive Animal Extinction.” The Ladendorfs found that the demand for wildlife body parts for scientifically unproven medicinal remedies and paranormal trinkets is causing a world-wide crisis for many endangered animal species, including rhinos and elephants. Bob, who lives in Los Angeles, received his master’s degree in Communication Arts and has been a state government executive, associate editor of a public affairs magazine, COO of the Center for Inquiry-L.A., and is currently an executive assistant for the L.A. Press Club and a freelance writer. Brett, who lives in Chicago, received his bachelor’s degree in economics and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, worked in the financial markets for more 12 years, and is currently a consultant for alternative investment managers and financial technology companies. “Wildlife Apocalypse” is their first collaboration.
