Obituary for Allan P. Hubbard

Allan P. Hubbard, age 90, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at Agrace Hospice. Allan was born January 28, 1930 in Kenosha, Wisconsin to the late Chester and Selma (nee: Blaesing) Hubbard. He married the love of his life, Isabel, on April 4, 1959 in Mukwonago, Wisconsin at the Unitarian Church. They celebrated their 60th anniversary last April. Allan attended the University of Wisconsin Law School. While at UW, he was a housefellow and Vice President of the Men’s Hall Association. After graduating with his Law Degree, he was in Private Practice until 1961 when he went to work on the newly created sales tax. During his revenue tenure, he was the unit head and also served as the Deputy Secretary for the Motor Fuel Tax Division. 1968 brought a transfer for Allan to the Attorney General’s office where he was the state’s Bond Counsel; handling numerous tax cases on appeal, cases on constitutional issues before the Wisconsin Supreme Court. Allan also had the honor to be the Chairman of the Wisconsin Claims Board. In 1979, Allan returned to the Department of Revenue as Chief Legal Counsel; a position he held until retirement at the end of 1991. He was presented a Years of Service Award from Secretary Bugher and a Commendation from Governor Tommy Thompson.

Allan was a life-long fan of the Badgers, both football and basketball. He attended as many games as he could. One if his favorite times of the year was Spring Training for the Chicago White Sox. Allan was also an avid golfer and had a long list of golf courses that he conquered.

There was a Visitation for Allan on Sunday, February 16 at FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH in Madison. There was also a Celebration of Allan’s life.
