A fitting memorial: Floyd Radel
- Jun. 23, 2016
From rural Wisconsin, Floyd Radel, came to the UW in 1940. Lonely, he begged to return home. His father said he must stay. Floyd graduated in 1944 with a degree in accounting from the business school. Ever since then, he and his wife, Ruth, “bled” Bucky red. They had season tickets to the football games for 45 years, driving to Madison from Arlington Heights, IL. He and Ruth were generous donors to the athletic department as well as the business school. Floyd died on June 9 at age 93 and was memorialized along with Bucky (who played “On Wisconsin”), a UW cap, his ’44 yearbook and a red urn.
