2016 Moonbeam Children’s Book Awards Medalists Announced: Billie Holladay Skelley

Billie Holladay Skelley has been named a medalist in the 10th Annual Moonbeam Children’s Book Awards contest for her book, Luella Agnes Owen: Going Where No Lady Had Gone Before.  Skelley was named the Bronze Medal Winner in the Non-fiction Chapter Book category.

This year’s winners came from 35 U.S. states, six Canadian provinces, and six countries overseas. Each of the 159 medalists possessed a distinctive quality that motivated the judges to select them for an award from the 1,500 entries in all.

Launched in 2007, the Moonbeam Children’s Book Awards are intended to bring increased recognition to exemplary children’s books and their creators, and are dedicated to supporting childhood literacy and life-long reading. Each year’s entries are judged by expert panels of youth educators, librarians, booksellers, and book reviewers of all ages.
