Robert Erzinger ’55

Robert C. Erzinger (Bob), age 88, of Winnetka died March 3, 2021. He was the beloved husband of Marijo Erzinger, nee Daly, for 62 years; devoted father to Christian (Carrie) Erzinger, Eve (Marty) Finzer, Neil Erzinger, Matthew (Reine) Erzinger, Maria (Mike) Roberts; adored “Grumpy” to 11 grandchildren. Bob was a true Badger fan, graduating from the University of Wisconsin, serving as president of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. He was a Korean War veteran. Bob spent his vast career as an insurance broker, where he developed many personal and professional relationships. Bob was an active member of Sacred Heart Church in Winnetka, as well as the Chicago Athletic Association and the Union League Club of Chicago. He was the proud co-founder of Santa’s Volunteers, an organization dedicated to providing toys and food during the holidays to impoverished families in the Chicago area. Each year, his family would gather to help pack toys together followed by an annual brunch at Butch McGuire’s. An avid traveler, Bob enjoyed many European bike trips with his wife as well as family ski trips out west and vacations in Longboat Key, Florida. His favorite place was his dear family cottage in Kelly Lake, Wisconsin, where he spent every summer of his life. Always the entertainer, if you were lucky enough to be a guest, you were treated to his famous scrambled eggs and French toast, Friday night fish fries, sunsets on the dock, pontoon boat rides and always music by the Mamas and the Papas. Due to COVID restrictions, funeral mass and internment will be private.
