Mariselle Meléndez Is Named Dean’s Fellow for Faculty Development

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign announced that Mariselle Meléndez MA’87, PhD’93, head of the Department of Spanish and Portuguese, has been named the first LAS Dean’s Fellow for Faculty Development. The position has been created to develop programs that enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion within the college, as well as to ensure that all faculty members receive effective assessment and mentoring to benefit their career advancement and engagement with the university. In addition, Professor Meléndez has been appointed as an LAS Alumni Distinguished Professorial Scholar effective fall 2021.
