Madison alum discovers cholesterol-lower class of drugs: Max Cayo

Alumnus Max Cayo, PhD, recently published his discovery that cardiac glycosides can lower cholesterol in mice and humans in the high impact journal Cell Stem Cell. Dr. Cayo will be graduating from the Medical College of Wisconsin’s (MCW) Medical Scientist Training Program with his medical degree in May 2017 and will be pursuing clinical trials and other research endeavors prior to starting residency. He recently became engaged to Karen Giles, MS, a MCW medical school colleague.
