UW–Madison Library Resources

The UW–Madison Libraries’ online collection (MadCat) offers a vast array of resources — from historical documents to current publications. Many of these items are available to all alumni and friends. And, as a members-only benefit, Wisconsin Alumni Association (WAA) members receive additional access to select databases.

Special Access for WAA Members

WAA members enjoy online access to the ProQuest ABI/INFORM Global and Project MUSE databases, both of which are normally restricted to current UW students and faculty.

From work projects and grad school papers to personal enrichment and casual reading, this members-only benefit is like having a UW–Madison library in your home or office.

About ProQuest ABI/INFORM Global and Project MUSE

ProQuest ABI/INFORM Global contains content from thousands of journals that track business conditions, trends, management techniques, corporate strategies, and industry-specific topics worldwide.

Project MUSE provides full-text access to more than 300 humanities and social science journals from various publishers. Disciplines covered include art, anthropology, literature, film, theater, history, ethnic and cultural studies, music, philosophy, religion, psychology, sociology, and women’s studies.

For WAA members needing help with hard-to-find research articles, be sure to take advantage of Ask a Reference Librarian. Upon request, via email, UW library staff can locate, copy, and deliver by email a limited number of articles that are owned in print in campus libraries.

Library Resources for All Alumni and Friends

To help serve the interests of the greater community of UW alumni and friends, UW–Madison Libraries provides a variety of online resources to continue in the pursuit of knowledge. Here are some interesting suggestions:

This collection brings together primary and secondary materials about the state of Wisconsin and unique or valuable materials that relate to its history and development.

This collection, which includes Badger yearbooks, brings together images, manuscripts, papers, and books relating to the university’s mission, and highlights people, places, and accomplishments.

These digital resources have been developed, often in collaboration with UW faculty members, at the UW–Madison Libraries.
