Online Marathon Course
January 22–May 16, 2008
Train with fellow Badgers and UW-Madison's Ron Carda PhD'90 in WAA's seventh annual online marathon training course. An instructor in the Department of Kinesiology and experienced marathon runner, Dr. Carda adapts the marathon training course he's teaching on campus for use by UW alumni and friends via the Internet. Participants learn and train alongside current students and alumni from around the country.
The online marathon course guides trainees through the process of designing and implementing an individual personal training plan. Participants are encouraged to stay in regular contact with Dr. Carda through e-mail; he provides individual feedback and coaching throughout the course. In addition, class members can develop an online community through a message board, where ideas, questions and encouragement are shared.

The 2008 course fee is $110. WAA members and UW-Madison faculty and staff receive a $15 discount. Learn more about WAA membership.
The registration fee includes course materials and textbook, access to a password-protected Web site, individual e-mail interaction with the instructor, and access to a class message board.
How the Course Works. Each week, lecture notes, graphs and all related materials are posted and archived on the class Web site; and Dr. Carda sends you an e-mail with study points, tips and recommendations for the week.
