Jeff Smith MA’89, PhD’95 is a professor of film in the Department of Communication Arts at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the author of
The Sounds of Commerce: Marketing Popular Film Music (1998). He is currently at work on
The Essentials of Film Art, a book co-authored with David Bordwell and Kristin Thompson to be published by McGraw-Hill. Jeff has published 30 journal essays and book chapters on film sound, music in film and the film industry. Jeff is also a Wisconsin Alumni Association member.
