WAA can be a home away from home for visiting parents of UW-Madison students. When you're in Madison, please feel free to stop by for a tour of our office at 650 North Lake Street.

The high school years may be over, but not the chance to apply for college scholarships! From freshman to senior, WAA offers a wide variety of scholarship and award opportunities. And to help develop the leadership skills that are so important when applying for those scholarships and future jobs, we suggest that your student consider becoming a member of the Homecoming Committee or the Wisconsin Alumni Student Board (WASB). The trademark WASB red-and-white jersey is a familiar icon on campus!

When the time finally does come to "go out into the world," our online career services tools will guide your student to job listings, networking opportunities and career-building tools. As a parent, you can even sign up to be a Badger Career Network volunteer to help other UW grads in their career paths.

Those who work in UW-Madison's admissions office strive to make the process of applying to the university as open and transparent as possible. And yet it remains encumbered by urban legend and misinformation. In "Getting In," take a look behind the doors at the admissions office to explore the mythology of getting in to the UW.

The voices of university advocates need to be heard throughout the legislative process - help us ensure a strong future for UW-Madison by joining Alumni for Wisconsin! The network is a volunteer legislative advocacy program whose mission is to combine the voices of university advocates to be heard throughout the legislative process, and to work with Wisconsin state legislators to effect positive outcomes for the university. You do not need to be an expert to become involved, nor do you need to be an alumnus or even a Wisconsin resident. You just need to have a willingness to communicate honestly to Wisconsin legislators or members of the U.S. Congress about your interest in maintaining UW-Madison's world-class level of excellence, both now and in the future. Join parents and local alumni for events that honor new freshmen who will be attending the UW campus. Each summer, alumni chapters all over the country hold student sendoffs for incoming UW-Madison students and their parents. For incoming students, it's a day to make new friends, and meet their "fan club" of alumni who reside in their home town. For parents, it's a day to learn about UW-Madison from local alumni, as well as discuss issues and share concerns with other parents.

With over a hundred chapters around the country, UW alumni chapters are a great way to meet and interact with fellow Badger fans. Encourage your student to stay connected to the UW by joining a local alumni chapter.

One of the best ways for parents to stay connected to their students at UW-Madison is by joining the Wisconsin Alumni Association. As a member, you'll support a nonprofit organization that provides benefits and services to alumni and students, including scholarships and lifelong learning opportunities. You'll receive On Wisconsin Magazine, our quarterly alumni publication that will keep you up-to-date on happenings on campus, earn valuable discounts and much more. Join today!
